creative halloween costumes...

looking for a Halloween Costume still??? me too! eek! over the weekend i did, however, narrow down a few fabulous choices! muahahaa! BUT... first things first. there are a couple things i look for in a Halloween Costume every year. first, comfort. to me there is nothing worse then being uncomfortable in a costume that either doesn't fit right or shows a little too much of what my mama gave me. i also like to be warm when i'm going out, so if it's a chillier October i may go for the costume with a little more fabric. second, i try to always choose a costume that can mainly come from my own closet! i'll usually mix a few of my pieces with a couple new items that enhance the outfit and make the costume look like a costume. for example, one year i was a barbie {Malibu Barbie, of course) and i used a dress, jewelry, and heels from my closet and just purchased a wig and tanning spray (a lot of tanning spray).... and ta-da(!) a Barbie was born!

The Mad Hatter...
// i was so excited about this one, that i had to post it first! i think this just may be my Halloween costume this year. i am a huge fan of Alice and Wonderland! so for this outfit, i would wear a velvet blazer, a ruffled collared shirt, trouser shorts, funky striped tights, and my favorite mary-jane wedges! maybe even a cluster of my vintage brooches on my jacket lapel and of course would have to buy the big velvet Mad Hatter Hat! //

Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel...
// i LOVE this costume for so many reasons, one being that you can bedazzle an old black or red jacket and make it a fabulous, unique, and comfortable! photo's via What I Wore blogger //

A Retro Cigarette Girl...
// want to be sexy & show a little skin? (well, kinda a lot of skin) then this is your fabulous pin-up look! sexy-mama! //

I LOVE LUCY...
// i love any costume where you really get to play-a-part all night... and how FUN would it be to be Lucy! //

A NERD...
// one of my BEST Halloween's was when my brother (left) & i dressed up as nerds together! i even made us some "nerdy" pins that said "Free Hugs" & "I Love Dinosaurs" it was such a funny night. //

A Black Swan...
// check out this great video about the inspiration of the beautiful "Black Swan" costumes, by Rodarte //

Little Miss. Wednesday Addams...
Wednesday: Pugsley, sit in the chair.
Pugsley: Why?

Kelly- the Nerd Costume was SO much fun!!! I would re-do that costume ever year of I could! The key is to dress up as a nerd with a couple friends. Very fun!

Wow! Love all the inspiration!!! I just bought my costume yesterday... My boyfriend is a doctor and he's going as my patient ('Massive Head Wound Larry-type patient) and I'm his "sexy nurse". But my costume looks like Vivienne Westwood and Betsy Johnson collaborated on it. Can't wait to wear it! Going to check out your decorations next!
