11 THINGS, Palm Springs!

June 27, 2013

photo's via my instagram

the fireman & i's romantical trip to Palm Springs this past weekend was fantastic. we definitely adapted to the relaxed Palm Springs life, and quickly! we mastered the art of lounging around pool side all day, only going into town for iced lattes, and eating mint chip ice cream for lunch (ok, i was the only one that did that). neither here nor there. anyway, one major perk to living in LA is the proximity to fun warm places, like PS!! in LA we are only two hours to the desert (Palm Springs) and two hours to the boarder (Mexico). gotta love a quick trip outta town!
SO, here are 11 things i love about the dessert...

1. desert sunsets & palm tress
2. the people watching, ice cold drinks, and DJ @ the Ace Hotel pool
3. El Jefe's teeny tiny tacos
4. eating popsicles out of necessity
5. the delicious coffee shop Koffi
6. the colorful Saguaro Hotel
7. wearing all white, sun dresses, pastels, polka dots, and hats!
10. the hummus plate at the Ace Hotel (oh. my. god.)
11. how much everyone LOVES french bulldogs

where is you favorite place to getaway???

A FAMILY VACAY.

May 24, 2013

last week my two older brother's, their lovely wife & girlfriend, our two ah-mazing nephews (who are the most entertaining people i know... and are 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 years old), my mom, her radical man-friend, ANNNND the fireman & i went to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a fantastic family vacay! Phew!! And i've got to say... it was an amazing trip. Jackson is the perfect combo of laid back local-life, stunning scenery, outdoor activities, AND super good foodie & coffee spots. so needless to say it is one of our favorite places on earth.

remember our trip last year??
it's where we got engaged... see that story here!

ps: happy friday & happy Memorial Day weekend!

ROAD TRIP MUST's!

March 18, 2013

so the fireman, the frenchie, and i are in the absolutely stunning Mammoth Mountains right now! we are having a blast so far. one of my favorite things about driving up to Mammoth (which is about a 5-7 hour drive) is the roadtrip part of the trip. i love waking up early enough for it to feel like not your usual early morning and bring all my favorite roadtrip goodies in the car with me! we are here in Mammoth with a bunch of our fireman friends (a ladies dream come true) which comes with a bunch of man jokes, unusual smells, and lots of beer. like i said... a dream come true. ha! but i love it... they're pretty funny.

here are a few things that i love about roadtriping...

1. waking up when it's dark outside
2. meeting at our local Pete's & Noah's bagel (bagels are guilt-free on roadtrips!)
3.  colorful socks
4. Pandora's: Drive Soundtrack, Florance + the Machine, Notorious BIG, Jenny Lewis, and Air Radio
5. having a sleepy frenchie on my lap for hours n hours
6. wearing a beaning, sunnies, and cozy pants... so cozy.
7. snacks: goldfish, apple slices n peanut butter, think thin bars, aussie licorice, peanut butter pretzels
8. telling stories & laughing a lot
9. knitting (it's my thing, i love it.)
10. stopping at local gas stations & buying super rad (kinda weird) souvenirs
11. Schat's Bakery
12. lot's of coffee stops.........

.... and those are a few of my favorite roadtrip things!

what are yours?

a dream, PARIS FASHION WEEK

January 31, 2013

there are many dream worthy things about Paris (i could name a trillion... and most of them include fresh chocolate croissants), but attending Paris Fashion Week is pretty high on my Parisian daydreaming agenda. to be amongst all the exquisite fashion & inspiring styling skills would be such an amazing treat. i mean, i would totally feel under dressed and absolutely intimidated by all the crazy fashion skills... but never the less it is still a big dream on my bucket list.

*i would wear these puppies to Paris Fashion Week, for sure.

who's with me??

make sure to check out this week's Valentine's Day GIVEAWAY!
*winner announced friday.

WE LIKE COFFEE & WE LIKE PORTLAND.

December 07, 2012

photo's by the fashion gal

happy friday folks! how's the Christmas thang going? our house is definitely starting to look a bit more Christmas-y! so like i said here, the fireman & i went on an early birthday extravaganza last weekend. it was a sudo-birthday-surprise, that turned out pretty awesome :) i found out AT the airport that we were off to Portland!! whoowhooo! Portland is such a cool old school city with tons killer coffee, food, unique boutiques, and some awesome 1900's architecture. so needless to say... we kinda had a good time. and drank WAY too much coffee along the way.

check out the trip deets... & have a great weekend!

have a happy weekend!

BEAUTIFUL VENICE, SINKING?

November 19, 2012

photos taken by the fashion gal & via

it was just one month ago when the fireman & i got home from our Italian honeymoon. it was romantic, full of food, wine, walking, too much gelato, a masquerade ball, and the very beginning of the rainy season. we walked with our umbrellas and made sure to have an afternoon coffee to stay warm. we never expected that the streets we strolled on would be under water just one month later. i'm sure you've heard by now that central Venice is severely flooded and that 70% is under water! i couldn't imagine trying to schlep our huge suitcases through the water like you see in the photo's below. these Italians are tough and seem to be handling this severe weather in stride.

on our last day in Venice, the water level rose up to sit even with the sidewalk.
this restaurant sits right next to the Grand Canal.

these photo's are crazy...
i can't believe we were just there walking down each one of these streets.
pretty good sports, right?!

HONEYMOON SWOONING.

August 06, 2012

last week the fireman and i decided where we're going on our romantic-little-getaway {aka} our honeymoon! surprisingly we didn't end up going with any of our original ideas ((you can find here)) we have chosen Europe!!! Amtersterdam (Holland), Greece, & Italy to be exact. and man, are we excited! the big guy has never been to Europe... and i couldn't be more excited to go back! i think he'll love everything about the countries we plan to visit. between the food, culture, and cobble stone roads i hope our honeymoon is as romantic & adventurous as we're anticipating.

*check out more wedding stuff here!
**AND, here are some of the items i plan on packing for our killer trip ahead..........
