wow! what a gorgeous day we had yesterday! my fingers are crossed that our entire weekend is exactly the same. warm, sunny, clear blue skies... and hopefully packed beaches! yup, i said it. packed! i want to swim in the ocean and see the sand full of bright stripped & polka-dot umbrellas. i love these beach photo's from the sky. they are beaches from St. Tropez to Manhattan Beach. check out the original story here!

one fantastic part of planning a wedding... is choosing your cake! i'm the sweets-lover {in the family} so this wedding cake thing is right up my ally! if the fireman could have his dream cake, it would be made out of rib-eye steaks & sweet potatoes! so luckily he's given me full reign on our wedding cake. here are a few cakes i found while browsing the world wide web! i {may} already know what kind of cake we'll be having... but you'll just have to wait and see after our big day!

5 things: home sweet home

 one: fresh cut peonies in my powder room... aka. my closet.

happy hump day! i know it's only wednesday... but i am SO looking forward to this weekend. a full weekend of being at home, sleeping in our own bed, and just reeelaxing. maybe i'll even get a chance to flip through my newest book-purchase. i picked up the Cupcakes and Cashmere book this past week... and so far all I know is that the photo's are fantastic! so since the fireman & i have gone out of town for the past few weekends in a row... i'm just looking forward to kicking my feet up and being
home-sweet-home.

TUESDAY-HOW-TO: a BURLAP PILLOW

today's fantastic TUESDAY-HOW-TO is all about home decor and how-to spruce up your place on a budget! i picked up this vintage burlap sack at the flea market for a whopping 20 BUCKS! it's unusual peach stripe and perfect imperfections had me at hello.... and i just knew it would be the perfect addition to our white ((Z Gallery)) couch. now this simple white couch feels complete with it's touch of fur + my new homemade pillow!

step one: stuff the burlap sack with your two pillows

step two: cut your batting that same size as your pillow

((side note:)) you can always stuff more batting in between the 2 pillows

step three: cut your excess batting and start sewing up the open end of you burlap sack

step four: continuing stitching and finish off with a couple double knot stitches

annnnnd voila!

charlie loves the new pillow too {wink!}

happy monday (booo-whooo). over the past weekend i hit up my #1 most favorite flea market ((the Long Beach Swap)) and discovered a fabulous {new to me} vendor that i absolutely love! i have my regular vintage bottle guy, my funky dishware lady, a booth that carries gorgeous linens, a crazy broach woman, and now i've got a kick{ass} sign guy! and not to say the "W" word... but i may have found something special for our big-day! check these killer signs out...

these simply cool signs are incandescent bulbs mounted on reclaimed wood and are framed by {mostly} reclaimed aluminum... not too shabby right?! AND they look good too!
