what i wore...

August 05, 2011

when the weather is this good... i feel like i have no excuse but to be in a skirt (maxi's or mini's), a tee-tank, and a neon bandeau bra, right?! i even threw on my new favorite mary-jane wedges! but seriously gals... dusts those skirts off, because summer is in full-effect!

PS: my tee-tank was one of the fireman's old cozy (XL) Hanes v-necks... i cut it into a tank and sewed the side seams to make it fit... me! (a "how-to" coming soon)

{please keep in mind... i am NOT a model ;)}

neon green bandeau bra: free people
top: homemade tee-tank... the fireman's old Hanes tee!
skirt: target... i bought an XS to wear it high-waisted
(it was meant to be wore on your hips... but i liked better up on my waist... so i sized down)
shoes: nine west
sunnies: ray-ban
necklace: nordstroms BP
watch: nixon
clutch: vintage gucci

naughty naughty...

August 04, 2011

well the fireman went to work this morning... so when i make dinner for myself (table for one), it's usually pretty healthy... or so i attempt. but not tonight my friends! this gal was feeling naughty and surely went to town. do you ever crave something really bad (like a cheesey quesadilla) but really wish you could make it healthy in some miraculous way? well i did tonight... so i created a yummy quesadilla with fresh white peaches!!

it sounds a little crazy... but it turned out soooooo gooood!

p e a c h   q u e s a d i l l a.
{cut the watermelon to garnish the plate & snack on while you cook... don't forget the sea salt. yum!}

{cut 1/2 a white or yellow peach (or nectarine) into small squares & slice a few pieces to garnish the plate}

{coat the pan w. a little evoo & sautee the peaches until slightly soft... add a pinch of sea salt & pepper}

{add tortilla & cheese}

{squeeze a little fresh lemon on... everything!}

{and you have a yummy guilty-gal meal... table for one!}

{opps... i forgot to mention my naughty (ice) cold beer... summer is here!}

some blog LOVE...

it's called: Honestly... wtf. and the reason i love it SO much is for the section called "DIY" (Do It Yourself)! i have always loved making things: clothes, jewelry, bags, taking something old and recreating it... so basically, i love arts n' crafts!!! i mean..... true love. if i could stay home and do arts n' crafts all day long... i would. believe me.

this site has such great ideas and shows simple easy steps on how to make fun projects from start to finish. so if you are already a crafty gal or would like to try making your first (one-of-a-kind) piece... you'll have to check this site out. i'm personally putting these fabulous chunky chain bracelets at the top of my to-do list!!

{i love the chucky gold chain mixed with the bright mixmatched colors}

mariachi el bronx...

August 03, 2011

the fireman and i have real love for LA and its cool roots. his 91 year old grandfather was born and raised in East LA along with his 12 siblings, and has lived in the LA area ever since. we love to venture out into the city for any excuse... wheather it's a concert, a car show, an art exhibit or even a funky new restaurant.

last night we checked out this modern mariachi band, in the deep heart of downtown LA at La Cita Bar.  with a yummy falafel (take-out) dinner, great live music, topped with an old-school shirley temple... we had a great night!

{mariachi el bronx... so good live!}

{the drummers  a m a z i n g  red Cadi}

{LA... whoop whoop!}

{our yummy take-out dinner spot... Kings Kabob in Culver City}

{veggie falafel sandwich with extra veggies, tzatziki & hummus!}
{eating our falafels in the back of the pick-up... nothing better.}

{i forgot how deeeelish a simple shirley temple is... yum!}
